SMU Reading Series: Kerry-Lee Powell & Deanna Young

The Saint Mary’s University Reading Series continues tomorrow evening (Nov 17) with Kerry-Lee Powell and Deanna Young. The reading starts at 7:00pm in the Atrium Room 101 at the Saint Mary’s Campus. Kerry-Lee was recently interviewed by The Toronto Quarterly, and it can be read here. Both poets will be giving a reading, followed by some Q & A – an excellent opportunity for aspiring writers to get some sagely advice! It’s going to be a fantastic evening of poetry and we hope to see you folks out there!

Deanna Young is the author of three books of poetry, House Dreams (published by Brick Books in 2014),  Drunkard’s Path, and The Still Before a Storm. Her work has appeared in journals across Canada, including The Malahat Review and Arc Poetry Magazine. Originally from southwestern Ontario, she now lives in Ottawa.

Kerry-Lee Powell’s work has appeared in The Spectator, Ambit and the Virago Press Writing Women series. In 2013, she won The Boston Review fiction contest and The Malahat Review’s Far Horizons prize for short fiction. Her debut collection of poetry, Inheritance, is from Biblioasis Press in 2014. A short story collection and a novel are forthcoming from HarperCollins.
